Coming off Psychiatric Drugs

Planning to reduce your medication with a view to coming off?

Plant growth in springWe are running an 8 week support group for people to explore the issues of coming off medications and to develop their own plan. After this, people who wish to to go ahead with reducing or coming off will be able to attend a follow on support group.

A commitment to attending regularly will be expected and to take an active part in the planning process.

This will be a peer led group and will involve the participants sharing the process and discussing information rather than being given direct advice.

Planned sessions involve:

  • Looking at reasons for reducing and timing
  • What support people have access to
  • Making positive life style changes
  • Making a personal reduction plan and advance crisis plan

We will also run a session for group members who wish to invite their support worker. a family member or friend to involve them in discussions about the planning process.

We plan to start the sessions soon.
